On Monday, April 29, 2024, an ongoing bridge painting project on Interstate 90, near Wasta, is scheduled to shift operations to the eastbound bridge over the Cheyenne River.
S.D. Highway 244 Scheduled to Reopen to Traffic near Keystone
April 23, 2024
S.D. Highway 244, near Keystone and Mount Rushmore National Monument, has been closed to through traffic from Palmer Creek Road to the east for one mile since Oct. 2023, for a structure replacement project. The project is scheduled for interim completion on Friday, May 24, 2024.

In 2026, the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) plans to administer a construction project on S.D. Highway 28 from U.S. Highway 281 to three miles east of Hitchcock.
